Key Features:

• No Back Shielding Required: The primary feature is that the flux inside the rod produces a slag that protects the reverse side of the root pass bead from atmospheric oxidation, eliminating the need for internal shielding gas (back purging). This can save on time and gas costs.
• Applicable Base Metals: It is suitable for welding 304 and 304L type stainless steels.
• Applications: Common applications include root pass welding of stainless steel pipes, and in the fabrication of components such as furnaces, reactors, heat exchangers, distillation towers, boilers, and turbines.
• Welding Technique: Unlike solid TIG filler rods, the TG-X filler rod must be moved quickly at short pitches to avoid defects and ensure the proper flow of molten slag to the back side of the groove.
• Limitations: As it produces a slag, it is specifically for the root pass and generally not recommended for multi-pass welding
